Celebrate love, live and creativity

By Wendy Rennie

With Valentine’s Day on the way, it’s often an eye roll situation, followed by a cynical “it’s a marketing ploy to get your money!!” It can feel super pressured to perform or make a fuss, and it can be hard to figure out what to do and how to celebrate. It is also a time when people can feel lonely due to the loss of a loved one or still searching for that special someone, or simply not feeling they have enough love in their life. So why not flip the script and use it as an excuse to celebrate love and life, in any form, through creative expression.

The act of painting is my “other” love, aside from family, of course. It’s my outlet of expression where I can really pour my own thoughts, feelings and emotions into my works and let the creative juices flow. This is the biggest act of love I can actually give myself, to take time out to paint and focus on my passion; it’s something ingrained into my very being.

The act of creativity has been proven, in many clinical studies, to improve moods, alter your state of mind and have a positive effect. Taking time to create and reconnect with your creative side is something that can be beneficial, no matter the skill level. It is the “act” of creating that can bring on those positive endorphins and elevate your mood.

So instead of the traditional approach. If you want to celebrate love and life, show love or feel some love, why not treat yourself, you and your significant other, or you and your crew, to a night out. Celebrate the day and simply enjoy each other’s company, the company of others, or your own and keep the day feeling lighthearted and fun.

Forget the traditional approach with expectations and pressure attached. Go for something that just feels good, experience the positive effects of creativity, weaving its magic in the background as you enjoy a night out to celebrate in whatever way speaks to you.

Let’s celebrate YOU.

This February, we have a celebratory Canvas and Create Session at The Dock in Hervey Bay. We will hold this on Thursday, February 12, from 4-6 pm and would love you to join us.

Come on your own and show yourself some love with some “me time”. Bring your significant other (or someone you love) and do it together, or treat your loved one to something they might like to do for themselves. For more details, reach out via the details below. Vouchers or payment plans are also available.

Let’s celebrate love and life together and create some magic in the spirit of Valentine’s Day.
